The Baxter County Fair Grounds Garden
The Fairground Garden Project was developed by the class of 1997 and is the oldest existing BCMG garden project. The class of 1997 built and maintained the east bed at the Education Building and the west side was cared for by the VFW. The class of 2001 took on the responsibility of the plot and made many improvements. The Master Gardeners took over the west bed in 2005; the plantings in that bed were mainly evergreen shrubs. Those were removed and there have been additions and
deletions since then.
Our aim is to provide color of some kind for all of the growing season. The Fairgrounds gets a lot of attention because of all the events that are held there. We receive many comments about how beautifully it is cared for. Come join us if you want to be part of a beautiful project. We are the Fairground Groupies: defined as those filled with enthusiasm, as one attached to a cause, object, or in pursuit and ordently absorbed in an interest! Be a Fairground Groupie!

Monarch Butterfly Life Cycle Story o f the Monarch Butter flies Most Monarch butterflies live from 2 to 6 weeks as an adult butterfly, but the Monarch’s migration is the KEY to its yearly life cycle. The total time frame for one butterfly’s life cycle (one generation) is about 6-8 weeks: egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, and butterfly. It grows inside the egg for about 4 days. It then munches milkweed and grows as a monarch caterpillar (larvae) for about 2 more weeks. The caterpillar’s life inside the chrysalis (pupa) lasts about 10 days and its wonderful life as an adult butterfly lasts from 2-6 weeks |
