Bull Shoals-White River State Park invites you to celebrate the arrival of spring with the Ozark Wildflower Weekend on April 14 -15.
At 1 p.m. on April 14, join Master Naturalist Amy Johnson from the North Central Arkansas Master Naturalists and Julie Lovett, park interpreter, for a hike on the Lakeside Trail located in the Day Use Area (You may pick up a park map at the James A. Gaston Visitor Center or the Camper Registration Center for directions to this trail). You can see what beautiful wildflowers are blooming.
The hike will begin at the Lakeside Trailhead in Bull Shoals-White River State Park. Dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring water. The hiking trail is moderate, and hiking time is approximately 1 ½ hours.
At 1 p.m., join Lovett for a hike on the River Trail located at Gaston’s Resort. This hiking trail is easy and approximately 1 ½ hours. Call the park for directions or stop by Gaston’s Resort for directions to this beautiful trail along the White river. Other events for the weekend will include a crafty flower T-shirt, as well as lake and river cruises to look at the wildflowers along local waterways.
These events are free, except for the lake and river cruises and a small fee for the flower print T-shirt. All programs are funded in part by the 1 ⁄8 th cent conservation tax of Amendment 75.
