Buddy message Blog
Why Changes? There have been a lot of changes recently in MG:
--The revamping of our website (learning to edit) and our buddy message system (blog) as well as changes in our Bylaws and Standing Rules due to necessity, not for our convenience. It has been months and hours of work. Prior to 2016 there had not been any major changes in the Bylaws or Standing Rules in ten years.
--The board realized early there is a severe lack of desire in members serving as board members and/or leaders in MG projects or events. Therefore the new org. chart was proposed to help this need. It will not alleviate the total lack of leadership desire.
--We've had problems recruiting new members. MG Training classes were not held consistently due to maximum numbers of 20 required for a class. Plus MG members getting older and leaving for various reasons. This problem may be helped by having two MG training classes this year and the yearly ZOOM online training classes with no maximum number required.
--There was a lack of continuity of board members and information as new board members took office each year. Therefore no term limits were proposed so those desiring to serve longer may do so. However, there is still voting on board members yearly by MG members.
The purpose for changes has been and continues to be for existing and the future BCMG program being better organized and efficient.
At the March member meeting, there will be a vote on the organization chart with the arrows which makes the chart clearer, and two people holding one board position having one vote, in March. The board does not see nor desire more changes anytime soon.
MG Business Meetings at times will require you to vote.
Votes will be taken on approved board voting issues at our meetings.
Your opinions as members do matter. Please keep up with MG issues by reading the website Bylaws/Standing Rules and buddy message blog. Our wonderful website will be the hub of our MG activity as we use it and promote it.
If you have any questions or concerns, contact me or any board member. Carol Badsky, the member at large on the board, will bring your concerns to the board. You are also welcome to attend board meetings, which are listed on the calendar, and held at the library. While you cannot vote at a board meeting, you can participate in any discussions which occur, and can bring up any concerns you have. Please have patience with us as we continue to update website and follow through on changes! We are trying.
Our membership meetings should be about educational aspects of gardening, socializing and having fun! You should take time to dig in the dirt if you desire! Thanks for your continued support in this effort.
Did you know? ... Daffodils belong to the genus Narcissus. Daffodils symbolize friendship and are considered some of the most beautiful flowers on the earth. A daffodil garden can bloom for 50 years. Daffodils are associated with Easter in most countries, and are the national flower of Wales.
Have a wonderful Valentine Day and enjoy the early daffodils peeping up!
