We have been busy bees. Monday and Tuesday were unofficial PED's and this Friday will be as well. Monday May 22's official PED is CANCELLED. We deserve time off!
As we best understand Saturday's event at Cooper Park from 11 to 3 Saturday May 20, there will be a memory walk for Hospice House and there is supposed to be a historical tour including the cabins conducted by the Historical Society as well. We do not need to be present, but I plan to go because I want to see the inside of the cabins and the school! And if the weather cooperates, it would be nice if some of us drop in for a while to answer questions about the gardens and plants.
Jane Druff, John Straight, Joanne Ragsdale, and I (Joan) have worked so far this week -- more timbers replaced, lots of deadheading and weeding and trimming, more planting, plant labels made (some are in place -- more by Friday), calling cards made (to be installed with a holder of some sort by Friday), and more plants added to our spreadsheet.
Our kerria, peonies, spireas, and irises are mostly through blooming, but the magnificent butterfly weed already has a tiny bit of orange showing in the buds and the yucca is sending up some robust bud stalks and the hollyhock had 1 blossom Monday, but 6 or 8 on Tuesday. Gardening is always in a state of flux.
