"A picture is worth a thousand words" goes the old saying. Because the BCMG Cooper Park team was concerned about the deteriorating condition of the cabins, we photographed some of the problem areas.
And, indeed, the saying seems true.
Here is our report.
Janelle Stookey snapped photos. Cecilia Gasiecki contacted both the Park's superintendent and the Historical Society's Vice President, sharing the photos. Joan Burr wrote up a list of some of the problem areas. We were asked to present our concerns at the parks commission meeting on Thursday, February 2. Jane Druff gave the commission members booklets of the photos and the list. The Historical Society officers also came prepared and confirmed our report. And the mayor and parks superintendent were there as well.
A plan of action and funding by the city are now in place. Sound, aged wood is being sought and a goal of completion has been set for May 20th, when the cabins are to be on the home tour to benefit the Hospice House. They hope to open up the cabins for viewing!
